Yabuki Jō is an orphan who scrapes a living day to day, by illegal means. One day, Tange Danpei, a former boxer and coach, finds out he has talent as a boxer and recommends that he become a boxer. However, Yabuki is arrested on charges of fighting and fraud. At the detention home, he meets Rikiishi Tōru, a professional boxer who later becomes his rival. Determined to beat Rikiishi, Yabuki begins to follow Tange's advice. After Rikiishi is released, Yabuki has to wait for his own release for a match with his rived professional ring.
